Manitou Company & their Forklift Trucks

Manitou Company, a leading manufacturer of handling and lifting equipment for rough terrains, was founded more than thirty-seven years ago in South Africa. They have since expanded across the globe, with locations in the United Kingdom and North America in addition to their home nation. Manitou is unique among the forklift truck manufacturing business.
Essentially, the Manitou Company created their own industry; they are the inventor of the rough terrain forklift truck. The Manitou Forklift Truck is categorized into three production lines. These consist of the rough terrain forklift truck, conventional forklift trucks, and electric forklift trucks. The rough terrain forklift truck is designed for loading, lifting, and handling tasks that are performed outdoors. Conventional forklift trucks are generally used indoors or in areas of level grounding to perform the same tasks as their more rugged, outdoor counterparts. These are commonly powered by gasoline or natural gas; because of this, an electric forklift truck is commonly used in isolated environments.

    Manitou Electric Forklifts

Electric forklifts are compact models that are typically used in large warehouses where fresh air is not readily available due to either their immense size or complexity. These Manitou forklift trucks comprise just a small portion of the Manitou enterprise, however. Manitou Company also offers machinery for several other industries exclusive of warehousing. These industries include Construction, Agriculture, Mining, and Timber. Most prominently, this other equipment consists of digging and excavating vehicles. This sort of vehicle is known as a Manihoe; it is a tractor-loading backhoe that can lift two and one-half ton loads to a height of five meters with its unique telescoping arm. It also has a traditional front bucket for excavating purposes. Manitou has also integrated their rough terrain forklift truck design with the Manihoe. This has been done to create a very rugged backhoe that is capable of operating on more than just level ground.
