Mascus – 1 million unique visitors…and growing

Mascus, the worldwide premium media for construction machinery, agricultural, material-handling equipment and forestry, has achieved a landmark by recording over one million unique visitors to its portals in the month of November 2009.

Not content with breaking through the target once, they have managed to sustain that level through December 2009 and January 2010, proving that despite the slow climb out of global recession, industry is feeling positive about the future. The figures mean that growing numbers of users, dealers, farmers and entrepreneurs are visiting Mascus every month, looking to trade across international borders and keep heavy industry moving.

Buoyant figures

Not only has Mascus managed to achieve the one million unique users target, but they have also seen a rapid increase in the number of user sessions overall – up to 1.5 million. This number represents visitors returning for multiple visits and, more importantly, that they are buying their equipment from the site.

“It’s a fantastic result for us,” explains Fredrik Larsson Director for Mascus. “The sheer volume of trade we’re seeing on the platform means that more people are trusting Mascus to deliver a quality marketplace in which to trade. That we’re demonstrating such excellent growth and customer and user retention in the current economic climate is powerful evidence of the strength of the business and its usefulness to our customers,” he continues.

With a worldwide presence and a powerful brand identity, Mascus has become a leading exponent of online portals for equipment sales. Mascus sees internationalisation as their key selling point, allowing customers to buy from companies and individuals across the world, regardless of international borders or location. “The growth we’ve seen over the past quarter is a clear indication to us that industry is finding its feet again after a long period of uncertainty,” explains Rob Tate, UK and Ireland country manager for Mascus. “The sheer coverage that Mascus now has worldwide means that customers are no longer restricted by geographical boundaries, but can do business across the world. The figures speak for themselves – over one and a half million people are regularly using our site to further their business,” he adds.

A growth market

As industries such as construction and forestry start to revive their fortunes, Mascus sees 2010 as a year of possibilities. “Although businesses have been cautious about expanding their operations through 2009, the green shoots of recovery can be best served by looking at the market as a global issue, rather than just limiting your horizons to your immediate neighbourhood,” says Rickard Petersson, Sales Director of Mascus “Having the availability of a platform that transcends borders opens up quite literally a world of opportunities for our customers, providing them with the chance to trade with new partners and expand their business portfolios around the world,” he adds.

Mascus now offers specialist equipment to a far larger clientele base than any other machine seller. Available in 35 languages, the company sees their platform as a ‘global shopping mall’ for the worlds business community involved in heavy industry. “We believe that the one million visitors figure is just the start of a very successful year, both for us and for our customers,” concludes Rickard.
