Volvo Construction Equipment to implement a web-based used equipment system across Europe

Press release October 26, 2004

Mascus, the electronic marketplace for used equipment, has done a significant deal with Volvo Construction Equipment Europe (Volvo CE). The company will take Mascus services into use in all European countries. Volvo CE is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of construction equipment.

According to the deal Mascus provides Volvo CE, its dealers and importers with a coherent and high quality used equipment service on their own homepages. With a single data input machines are displayed on these homepages and on the Mascus marketplace in 13 different languages. Furthermore, information about used equipment supply and availability is collected into one system, Volvo CE intranet, which improves the speed and quality of customer service.

“Volvo CE Europe wanted to introduce a single web-based system to manage and market our used construction equipment in Europe. We evaluated several system alternatives. For us it was important that the system will be actively taken into use in all countries and therefore our sales personnel must be able to use the service in their own native languages”, explains Nick Rose , Vice President Remarketing – Europe, the set system requirements.

“Our dealers and importers in several countries have been using Mascus services for quite some time and are pleased with the service and the results they have achieved through Mascus. Therefore, it was easy to decide to build on the Mascus system that was already successfully in use. With the Mascus services Volvo CE Europe, our importers and our dealers across Europe get common tools into use and can share used equipment information internally”, motivates Nick Rose their decision.

“Mascus has been systematically building electronic used equipment services to improve the efficiency of the used equipment market. Volvo CE deal shows that our vision is right and our services work. Our customers value our user friendly interface, wide range of language options as well as our product support in several markets. Our solution offers the international dealer networks a cost efficient European, but from a dealer point of view still a local used equipment solution,” concludes Kaisa Vikkula , Managing Director of Mascus.

The Mascus used equipment services will be implemented stepwise within the Volvo CE organisation. The services are initially provided in 9 languages, but the selection of languages will expand over time.
